FAQ
Do I need the correct uniform / shoes to start?
No, we believe that you should only purchase uniform after your first month for children’s classes, or two weeks for adults. This is to ensure that you are happy with the classes.
Is uniform compulsory?
We do have compulsory uniform for exams and performances. We have a more relaxed uniform for classes, but do expect students to wear appropriate clothing.
Do classes run through the school holidays?
Our classes run for 44 weeks of the year. We have two weeks off for Christmas and Easter, and 3 weeks off at the end of the summer. We also have an extra 1 (just in case) week, which may be taken for illness or adverse weather
Are exams, performances and shows compulsory?
Our school likes everyone to be equal, and have the opportunity to do exams, performances and shows. However, these are not compulsory and if a student does not want to do one or any of these, they do not have to.
Are there different colour leotards for different classes?
Each grade has a set colour leotard for the exams. You can find out which colours are needed on our uniform order form or by asking a member of staff. For performances our leotards are black.
Where can I find your timetable?
Our timetable can be found on our website and also on our registration system Classmaster.
What happens if you miss a lesson?
Because our lessons are paid for a month in advance, any classes missed because of illness or holidays are non refundable. However we will allow you to attend another suitable class, if available. If we have to postpone a lesson, we will give you an alternative date and time.
I’ve never danced before, am I too old to start now?
You are never too old to start dancing. Our adult classes are aimed at beginner, intermediate and advanced students.
What hairstyles do they need for Ballet?
For Ballet, students need to have their hair up in either a bun or a hairstyle which is out of their face.
Does your school do competitions or exams?
We are not a competitive school. Our students do exams and a show once a year, we are also starting to do performances throughout the year.
How big are your classes?
As we are an autism aware organisation, we like to keep our classes small. Some classes have a maximum capacity of 15, others have a maximum capacity of 10. This also allows us to focus more carefully on teaching our students safe dance technique.
How much do classes cost?
Our 30 minute classes are £18.00 a month. Our 45 and 60 minute classes are £25.50 a month each. If you or your children do 3 or more classes a week there is a discount for the monthly costs.
How do I work Classmaster?
If you are having trouble navigating your way around Classmaster, please feel free to message Nikki or send Classmaster an email support@classmaster.cloud.
